Elemi resin, also known as Manila resin (Malapili), is a type of olive tree originating from the Philippines. It grows in tropical rainforests and is harvested for resin at the beginning of the rainy season. The leaves of the tree are wide and the bark is easy to crack. Generally, the height of the tree is 10-20 meters.
Elemi essential oil has a scent similar to frankincense, but with more floral and fruity notes, making it clear and pleasant to smell.
