Meadowfoam is called "grass foam" because the blooming white flower is similar to the white foam on the waves. Its seeds are pear shaped, with a striped brown outer shell enclosing a soft, light colored dicotyledonous seed kernel. The application of Meadowfoam seed oil in cosmetics has a short history. Around 1980, the United States discovered Meadowfoam during experiments searching for new oil crops and began planting them to extract Meadowfoam seed oil.
Meadowfoam seed oil contains over 98% long-chain fatty acids with antioxidant properties, and its unique molecular structure has not been found in other natural plant oils. It is used in lotion, face cream or essence oil, with antioxidant effect, light skin feel, easy absorption, and non greasy.
Meadowfoam seed oil has the effect of preventing water loss and promoting skin regeneration. It is an activator of skin metabolism, which regulates the leakage of water and compounds by changing keratin tissue, locks in moisture on the skin epidermis, and helps repair the sebum membrane.
